First off, yes you can turn the LED lights on/off that are on the base. I was worried about this but saw an answer but no detail on how: There is a touch-sensitive button on the right side in front of where you plug in your AirPods. See attached image (yellow circled area). This is very important as I plan to use this on my nightstand next to my bed and the blue/green lights are pretty bright.
The Wireless charging with the iPhone is great! It connects easily, not like some chargers where you must place it in exactly the right spot to get a connection.
The addition of the lightning plug for the AirPods is a nice touch and it saves me having one more needless wire on my desk.
There is a glowing light on the base. It’s pretty, but I personally don’t care for it. But they have added a button on the base where you can toggle the lights on or off by by simply pressing for a couple seconds. Well done!
It has an awesome light showing that it is charging but it can also be turned off so it doesn't keep me up at night!
It charges super fast and takes up a 6"x6" square on my desk!!!

I had been looking for a 2-in-1 wireless charging stand with a built-in Apple Watch charger for some time, and I finally came across this one that checked all my boxes. This stand is actually a 3-in-1, but I don’t have AirPods so I can’t comment on its ability to charge those.
Only had a couple days but everything works as stated (still not sure about the 'breathe' thing?) the lights can be turned off for bedside use. My wife was way impressed and she loved it (we are a divided household, I'm an android person). I'll update if anything should change but so far so great.
